Howdy! I’m a born & raised country girl. I’m married to John (co-owner & and the most fantastic husband EVER! My BFFSH & Junior & High School Crush.) I am an online geek & LOVE IT! ~
We are John & Bobbi Raffin. We live in Oregon with my two kiddos (daughter & son) full-time and his two kiddos (two sons) who we have every other weekend, along with our puppies, cat, and bearded dragon.
We’re a remarriage and learning (sometimes slowly) what this step-family thing is all about.
John & I kind of crushed on each other in high school, but we both found out much later. We didn’t have a clue during our school years that we both liked each other.
My crush actually started in the 9th grade for him. Oh my, was he tall and oh so cute!! lol 🙂 He still is actually!! (He’s 6’3″ and I’m 5’11”) We married 31 years later after taking a few wrong turns. He asked me to marry him on April 1st and we married 27 days later!
If there was ever a soul mate Mr. John Raffin IS mine! Not that it is peaches & cream all the time, but we are perfect for each other.
We came up with the idea of Apron Talk ~ The Internet Kitchen in August of 2012.
I came up with the ‘Apron Talk’ part and John came up with the ‘The Internet Kitchen’ part.
I also LOVE teaching others to work for themselves. I got tired of layoffs and low pay! So I decided to make my own way. You can too…
It’s easier than you may think. And – You can absolutely teach old dogs new tricks! 🙂
I also love our kiddos, doggie, vanilla AND chocolate ice cream, blackberry pies, brownies, and fresh from the garden veggies.
Oh … and Jesus is my Everything!
I really look forward in getting to know you and helping you Find YOUR Dream!
Someday I’ll have to tell you all about our trip to New York (Pictured Here.)… 🙂
John grew up in Eugene, Oregon. I grew up (for a small amount of time) in Oklahoma and then, as a toddler on up, lived in Grants Pass and Merlin, Oregon. I even lived on a mountain farm. That was wonderful and I miss it with all my heart.
My Grandma and Great Grandma would take me out mushroom picking, which I do not do now, but oh was that fun. I learned a lot about old-time remedies from them. I’m a total country girl at heart. I even have ‘She’s Country’ as my ringtone! 🙂
From that upbringing I developed a love for herbs which developed a love for Essential Oils. I began my search and found My Essential Oil Company. I get to keep myself & my family Healthy while at the same time make money with something I LOVE! It’s quite the deal! 🙂
For now I am running the show here at Apron Talk… At least until we can bring John ‘Home’ from his out-of-the-house job. My ‘day job’ is writing and tech support for a little software company you may have heard of – WishList Products. We create plugins for WordPress.org.
I teach about membership sites and help with the tech stuff, like uploading plugins, adjusting settings, and getting your WordPress and WishList Products plugins to run smoothly. If I can’t figure it out – we have some fantastic developers who can!
Since 2010 I have taught our clients of WishList Products and the WishList Insider members about starting and growing their own membership business. If I can do it for them I can do it for you also.
Although, I have worked for myself since 2000! I began at a time when most businesses did not have the internet setup. I had never been on it before and taught myself everything.
I learned HTML and created a website and store-front. I also contracted with some wholesalers and drop-ship companies. I sold leather jackets, boots, and bags. Plus some Disney and Coca-Cola items. I did that fours years – until I burnt out.
Now I understand how to resource out and get that valuable time back.
I truly love all the people I get to work with and the job I get to do is fantastic. It’s a pretty good gig and working from home at that! Even so – I want to be ‘self-supportive’. What I mean by that is independent of needing to work for other companies. Yes, I still get to work from home, but I can’t set my own hours or take off when I would like. 🙂
John is a wonderful writer and our goal is for him to get some precious time to write also. He contributes here when he can.
He is logical and I’m emotional …. we’re good for each other …. WHEN we humble ourselves and work together. We’re learning to let the pride go. It’s just not worth it! We constantly need to remind ourselves, “Do we want to be right OR do we want to be happy?”
For now, I am taking care of things on the home front. Let me tell you – I’m no domestic diva! 🙂 Wish I was – I guess I’m more like a ‘Wanna Be’.
We are Christian and I’m not at all reserved or ashamed about speaking of my love for Jesus. Yes, I am a businesswoman – a female entrepreneur … I am ALSO a Christian. 🙂 I won’t leave God out of my business. I do not expect you to be, although I do ask that you please keep the Comments ‘G’ rated and please be respectful of our faith. 🙂
I have a few different interests as I’m sure you can tell just by looking at the home page of our site. I have a passion for, of course, Jesus, my husband, my children, online business, marriage, and step-family issues. That is why it is all joined here.
As we grow, our content will be more in-sync with their proper group and on a bit of a schedule.
